How to Optimize Health with Wildfire Smoke
I’ve had several clients reach out this week asking for recommendations for supporting the body with exposure to wildfire smoke.
When we lived in Colorado, we had frequent exposure to wildfire smoke and these are a few of the things that I like to focus on to support our family. Exposure to wildfire smoke can cause oxidative stress on the body so it’s important to do as much as possible to support the entire family!

Supplements: Support for the Body
Because smoke can cause inflammation in the body, it's important to consider certain supplements to support the health of your family. Here are a few of my recommendations:
NAC (600mg): 1-2 times per day
Vitamin D (5000 IUs): Once per day
Whole Food Vitamin C (4000mg): Once per day
Nutrition: Supportive Foods
Smoke causes oxidative stress on the body and there are several foods that can help support the body during smoke exposure.
Focus on eating anti-inflammatory foods like garlic, wild-caught fish, ginger, leafy greens, turmeric, etc. And focus on drinking teas containing Tulsi, Reishi and Chaga.
Antioxidant-rich foods help support the body when under stress. Focus on eating foods like blueberries goji berries, artichokes, raspberries, dark chocolate, etc. And focus on drinking green tea, as that's especially packed with antioxidants.
Lifestyle: Things to Consider
When exposed to wildfire smoke, plan accordingly so that your family has minimal exposure. These are a few things that I like to recommend to clients:
Avoid outdoor activities
Increase electrolyte and water intake (LMNT)
Stay inside, if possible
Wear an N95 mask if planning to be outside
Focus on being places with filtered air
